How I learned about the event
So for the last 2-3 weeks there's been many events focused on cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, and Blockchain in Bangkok, and I'm glad that people are meeting, talking, and sharing their experience and expertise. So, last week I saw that La French Tech Thailande was hosting their own crypto talk, it was free, and at one of my favourite co-working spaces, The Hive Thonglor, I thought, one more crypto/Bitcoin talk couldn't hurt! And I've been to a La French Tech Thailande event which was quite good, so definitely worth my time.

Oh I love a good debate! Especially if you attend many events, people start to sound alike and the whole routine of events, listening, networking become redundant. But last Wednesday at La French Tech Thailande, it got really interesting. I forgot how French people love to debate/argue (you had be there to see it, and there was a live feed of the whole event!)
But, before I go into the drama that happened I will say that all the speakers were excellent, and the first talk began with the basics of Bitcoin, what it is, the difference between fiat currency and digital currency, how to purchase Bitcoin, security of Bitcoin, and his thoughts on the future of Bitcoin and other digital currencies. The next speaker built off from Bitcoin basics to discuss Blockchain and the financial industry. The other 2 guest speakers talked about the environmental impact of Bitcoin mining and the technical side of Bitcoin and Blockchain.
Now, the last speaker, started off by saying that many people will disagree with him and that's ok, because he's been in the digital currency business for some time and had data to support his perspective of the "gold mine rush" for Bitcoin and digital currencies. Not the best way to begin a discussion :/ Well, not only did people disagree, but people in the audience interrupted, and argued, why this speaker and his data was wrong. This was quite entertaining to watch, as people really got passionate arguing that this speaker was wrong despite his data and experience. But the speaker, was very nonchalant and held his ground. Essentially, his perspective and data was that Bitcoin, Blockchain, and other digital currencies would be obsolete in 10 years or so, governments and big financial institutions wouldn't allow a globalised currency, and they'll eventually have more control over the digitalisation of currency, shopping, ICO's, FinTech, etc. Well, I too disagreed with the speaker, but really appreciated the dynamics of this event, because it's good to have different and unpopular perspectives, though I'm an optimist and all for disruption, it's good to have a debate!
So friends, keep an eye out for the La French Tech Thailande events, not only will you learn something, you will get a diversity of perspectives and might get to see a debate!
